about

Nostalgia has a unique way of painting our memories. The past is seemingly always glistening. The sparkle of a memory, the last glowing ember of the fire of a life you’ll never return to, the final words that will replay forever. Sometimes the wounds close up and the shrapnel gets trapped...Sometimes doors close and you’re left with ghosts living in the corners of your heart and in the corridors of your mind. These specters haunt us most viciously when we know there will never be another moment. All the words of hindsight you’ll never get the chance to say. These phantom pains that torture heart and tease the mind with “what if?” We lie awake from grey to black to grey and wonder...
“Are you awake too?”
“Do you think of me when you hear that song?”
“Does it burn?”
“If you saw me in the light of day,
Would you even see me at all?”
The song that will be released tomorrow is an acoustic version of a piece called “Ghost of You” which ends the new EP. it is about grief and acceptance and perspective.
Everyone you encounter will change your life in one capacity or another. people will break your heart, shatter you, level your life, and force you to begin anew...and as painful as that is, it is growth and it is life and life is ruthless. Every triumph and every tragedy, every friend, every lover, and every enemy has made you the person that you are... this being said, I find myself thankful for everything I’ve been through, because each step I took brought me here... so, to everyone that has helped me, hurt me, loved me, hated me, taken me in, cast me aside, pieced me back together, torn me apart... I Am Happy That I Knew You... and through every grey to black to grey, I pray for you to have peace in your soul and for you to have love in your heart...🩸

lyrics

I’ll leave again tonight to feel stable
I promise I’ll call you back when I’m able
So many things I need to say to you
In hindsight I’m happy I knew you
And I wonder if you’re happy tonight
I went home and nothing felt right
I see the ghost of you
in corners a younger me knew
In hindsight I’m happy that I knew you

I’ve never been good at change
Still never able to keep things the same
I wish that in the moment I knew
That would be the last time I saw you
As you get older it gets more apparent
That nothing is ever completely transparent
There’s more you’ll never know
In the things they’ll never show
In hindsight you’re always alone

If this is goodbye
I’ve got some things to get off my mind
If this is goodbye
I’ve got some things I don’t want to die with by my side

When was the last time you said my name
Should I feel guilty for saying yours again
I know you probably curse it now
But I still care somehow
If it’s wrong I don’t care I’ll keep quiet
I think I’ll reach out but I know I’ll never try it
I see the ghost of you
In corners a younger me knew
In hindsight I’m happy that I knew you

If this is goodbye
I’ve got some things to get off my mind
If this is goodbye
I’ve got some things I don’t want to die with by my side
Tonight
I’m happy that I knew you
I’m happy
I’m happy...
